In Rubber Tire Gantry (RTG) applications, the Rypos Active DPF/C active diesel particulate filter with an integrated diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) significantly reduces particulate matter while continuously regenerating (cleaning) the filter substrate. No operator intervention and minimal maintenance is required. This active regeneration eliminates the issue of clogging associated with passive DPF technology used in variable duty applications such as RTGs. The Rypos ADPF/C is the only DPF technology that is CARB verified for this challenging and demanding application (RTGs).
Rypos ADPF/C for RTGs is characterized by high filter efficiency and very low backpressure. The system monitors and controls backpressure by energizing the sintered metal fiber filter cartridges, effectively oxidizing the collected Particulate Matter, PM10 and PM2.5. The system includes a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) to reduce Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons, minimizing diesel odor.
The operation of the Rypos ADPF/C is controlled by an independent microprocessor (ECU). The controllers monitor the backpressure and sequentially energize the filter cartridges, creating a resistive heating element. Regeneration is performed automatically, without any operator interaction, while the generator is running and is independent of engine exhaust temperature.
